Silicon Power Armor A80 USB Hard Drive


Silicon Power announced a new external portable hard drive called the Armor A80. The new HDD uses a USB 3.0 interface and is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 as well. It is performed in 2.5-inch form factor and comes in one color, blue.

The Silicon Power Armor A80 drive is shock-resistant, waterproof enclosure, meets US military standards and IPX7 standards for drop, dust & shock survivability. According to manufacture, the external drive can be submerged in water up to a meter deep for as long as 30 minutes without any damage.

Silicon Power Armor A80 is packs USB 3.0 connectivity (5Gbps of data transfer). Dimensions of drive are 139×96x18 mm and weight 270g. The Silicon Power Armor A80 rugged external hard drive is available in models for 640GB, 500GB and 320 GB. There is no word on pricing or availability.

Other features include a LED light to show drive activity and an integrated USB cable that tucks into the side of the drive chassis. The drive gets all the power it needs directly from the USB port so no AC adapters are needed. There is no information about Pricing and availability.
