FaceBook now available in every phone through Airtel in India

U2opia Mobile has developed a new application for mobile phones called Fonetwish which allows mobile phone users to access FaceBook without using the internet or activating GPRS capabilities. The Fonetwish is a platform for accessing Facebook via USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data) in partnership with telecom provider Airtel.

USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data) is a menu-based system that allows interfacing with content based services. Unlike a normal browser, the USSD menu acts as browser to pull content to the phone,so internet or GPRS is not needed. It will not provide access to graphics but it will help users send and view updates. It is like sms.

Airtel’s Indian customers will be able to update their Facebook status for free, but to use all other features they will have to pay Rs. 1 per day.

Steps to Activate FaceBOOk in Airtel connection Phones:

They have to dial *325# (“*fbk#” for non-qwerty mobile handsets) from your handsets, then a menu opens and asks the user to enter Facebook username and password and after the one-time registration, a text menu is displayed for browsing through content.
