OCZ comes with an SSD of 1TB with high read and write speeds. It has a high level of reliability and endurance. The average cost-per-gigabyte ratio is relatively high which we think will come down when other vendors comes with theirs. The Colossus LT from OCZ will let speed enthusiasts completely transition from the platter-based solutions to these newer, faster and quieter ones.
OCZ has announced the Colossus LT series of 3.5-inch SSDs that are available in capacities up to 1TB. ). They even successfully combined this capacity with an equally impressive endurance and operational speed. It has an"excellent" mean time between failure (MTBF) rating of one million hours, and backs up the drive with a three-year warranty and dedicated technical support.
The Colossus LT Series SSDs are built out of MLC (multi-level cell) NAND Flash chips, based on the 34nm manufacturing process technology, and operate on the SATA 3.0Gbps interface. In addition, they have a cache memory of no less than 128MB, boast internal RAID and reach data-transfer rates of 260MB/s both when reading and when writing.
The new model Colossus LT is a lightweight, aluminum casing measuring 146 (L) x 101.6 (W) x 25.4mm (H).The company implements not one but two Indilinx controls. As for sustained write speeds, the drives can show off 220MB/s, while the seek time is of under 1ms.
It has the staggering difference in cost-per-gigabyte ratio between the 1TB Colossus LT ($4 per gigabyte). The 1TB capacity comes for $4,000 and is available world wide markets now.
